The beta version of Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) has the online advertising world scared that they won’t be able to track traffic or have as much control over ads in the future. Some believe that the new version of IE8 has been designed to hurt Google’s online advertising model.
The new InPrivate feature has been nicknamed “Porn mode” because of it’s ability to hide search paths of users (cookies, cached pages, etc.). Of course, Microsoft is downplaying any negatives of InPrivate and playing up the positives. And it’s true that for users this is a great tool that allows users to opt out sharing info, but it will make it more difficult to accurately track user habits – just about the time we are finally figuring out how to measure it too.
